Annotation | The author's contention is that understanding and treating disruptive behaviours complicating Alzheimer's disease (AD) deserve a concentrated research effort using multiple approaches. He discusses four research questions. First, what is the phenomenology of disruptive behaviours in AD and how can these behaviours best be categorised? Second, what underlying neurochemical changes contribute to disruptive behaviours in AD? Third, are behavioural management techniques effective in the treatment of disruptive behaviours in AD? Finally, is the combination of pharmacotherapy and behavioural management more effective than either modality alone in treatment of disruptive behaviours in AD? (RH). |
