Annotation | Selecting what to use in the assessment of older clients requires a balance between scientific standards, practical constraints and the needs and capabilities of the population to be assessed. Three aspects of scientific quality that must be taken into account in the choice of assessment are reviewed: psychometric quality (reliability and validity); specificity; and appropriateness of assessment tools for the population. Practical constraints discussed are: the time required for assessment; and the mode of assessment. (RH). |
