Annotation | Educators with interest and expertise in gerontology and geriatrics are essential for the development and maintenance of the training programmes necessary for preparing the geriatric care work force in the United States (US). If these programmes are to counteract the persistent shortages of geriatric care staff, it is important to listen to the concerns of these educators. This article presents feedback from educators in several disciplines regarding common issues involved in training geriatric care staff. Adequate funding remains a key ingredient for successful programmes. Results from this study can contribute to the development of more effective strategies of support for training the diversity of service providers that are required to meet the needs of the growing numbers of older people in the US.
