AnnotationThis qualitative in-depth interview study conducted in participants' homes document the daily lives and types of home care needed by 75 chronically ill older people in three cities in the People's Republic of China. It examines the severity of their illnesses and the problems experienced by their caregivers. The nature and impact of caregiving on the family members are explored, and questions raised about the caregiving role, given the increased numbers of older people and the now smaller extended families in China.
