Annotation | This collection of fifteen papers analyses the middle years of the life span, focusing on the biopsychosocial contributors to successful development in midlife. It is organised around four themes that represent different facets of adult development: psychological (the self); social and interpersonal; physical health; and work. Specific topics covered include: stability and change in the transition to midlife; changes in gender identity; midlife interpersonal relationships and well-being; generativity of employed mothers in multiple roles; health and stress in midlife; and women and employment. The studies referred to in the papers were mainly conducted in the United States (US). |
