Annotation | Intergenerational activities involving children and older people in short-term programmes generally permit (at most) cursory or fragmented relationships. Simply put, intergenerational programmes resulting in two-way relationships between members of both generations are unusual. This paper describes an educational programme based on long-term, highly interactive intergenerational activities. It is based on a co-ordinated curriculum with educational objectives which involved college students in a term-long, educational experiential programme. The requirements of the course encourage extensive interaction between students and older adults in long-term care settings. This paper also describes three cohorts of students, and their responses to the older individuals they met. |
