AnnotationThere are substantial unmet needs among older Americans in nursing homes, the home and the community. There was considerable focus on this theme at the 1995 White House Conference on Aging (WHCoA). This article considers the barriers to mental health services for older people (ageism, stigma, and organisation), and current and future policy and practice considerations.
