Annotation | People-centred health promotion (PCHP) is defined as representing a `third wave' in health promotion, following the lifestyle and social model eras. It is based on the contention that health promotion is a personal and human area, and should begin from a perspective of people's everyday lives and experiences. This book looks at the history of health promotion and the concept and practice of PCHP. The following topics are covered: empowerment; community development; cultural and spiritual dimensions; and the practice of PCHP. A number of case studies exemplifying the PCHP principle are included. (AKM). |
