Annotation | A series of related studies on residential and nursing home care was conducted between November 1994 and July 1995 in South Glamorgan. This article reports on a two-stage survey of a random sample of new admissions. Their level of physical and mental disability, unmet health needs and perceived appropriateness of placement were determined on admission and after three months. Results raise questions regarding suitability of placements, the knowledge and involvement of home care staff, and the extent to which clients themselves feel involved in the admission process.
