Annotation | In Hong Kong, as in most developed countries, cerebrovascular disease (CVD) ranks as the third most common cause of death and perhaps the first cause of disability in adults. CVD has drastic effects on patients and their family members. The slow rehabilitation period can be fraught with limited mobility, frustration, depression and feelings of social isolation, as well as being a very disempowering experience. Consequently, stroke victims become vulnerable and increasingly dependent on their caregivers. In the absence of any local studies on measuring quality of life of these stroke victims, this article reports on an investigation of the associated factors that may be the best predictors of quality of life in stroke survivors. |
