Annotation | This is the first in a series of gender and ageing profiles produced with the support of the US National Institute of Aging's Office of the Demography of Aging. The demographics underlying the socio-economic differences of gender and ageing are examined. Whilst the main focus is on women outliving men, the report also points to the oldest old (aged 80 and over) as the fastest growing segment of most populations. (RH). |
