It summarises information on the older population of the US prepared by the US Bureau of the Census and other Federal agencies. Data are drawn primarily from the 1990 Census of Population and Housing, including unpublished tabulations from the Modified Age, Race and Sex (MARS) file and the Public Use Microdata Sample (PUMS); and from nationally representative surveys such as the Current Population Survey (CPS) and the Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP).
