AnnotationIn this study, black and white students from two different educational institutions in the United States (US) completed demographic information as well as a forty word instrument asking them to rate the words as to applicability regarding older women in general and a chosen female relative. Findings showed that the majority of words used by both groups were positive. The words chosen by the black respondents in describing an older relative (grandmother) included "beautiful", "caregiver", and "sweet", and the words chosen by white respondents included "fun" and "experienced". The study concluded that the positive responses suggest that a difference in attitude towards older people may exist when older female relatives are considered in contrast to older women in general.
