AnnotationThe aim of this study was to determine the extent to which women aged 65 years and older had received immunisation services consistent with the United States Preventive Services Task Force Recommendations. Analysis of data of a group of women living in long-term care facilities and a group of women living in the community revealed that both groups surpassed the recommendation for influenza (flu) vaccinations but failed to meet the mark in receipt of either pneumonia or tetanus immunisations. The findings suggest that older women in long-term care settings and in the community are at an unnecessary risk for preventable diseases.
