AnnotationA case study of a 70 year old man of Polish extraction raises issues concerning: the right to self determination; safety in the home for the patient; safety of the patient's neighbours; safety of agency personnel; Medicare regulations regarding criteria for services; and state law and co-operation among involved professionals. Problems of non-compliance with medication and self-neglect led this individual to be discharged from the agency; he was admitted to hospital and died shortly after. (RH).
