Annotation | If older people are to be helped to continue living at home, services must provide for mental health needs. Providers of services to older people living in the community must also learn to co-operate with mental health providers, or in some instances, advocate for or develop resources that tackle older people's mental health needs. This article outlines needs for and barriers inhibiting receipt of services, and the components that define a service. Examples are provided of in-home mental health treatment and out-of-home agencies in the US, many of which are community or area-based. (RH). |
