AnnotationAimed at care staff working with people with dementia, this book provides therapy material that can be used in the development of individualised programmes suitable for persons with dementia. The first part provides a general overview of ageing and Alzheimer's disease, describes clinical and behavioural assessment procedures, and looks at the management of dementia patients and their families. The second part is a workbook consisting of a series of specific lesson plans which can be used by both care staff and family caregivers at home. The lessons can be adjusted to the patient's functional level, and repeated as appropriate. The final part provides suggestions for health care professionals regarding diagnosis, treatment, and gives advice to family caregivers. A list of additional sources of information about Alzheimer's disease in the United States (US) is included.
