Annotation | The Independent Healthcare Association (IHA) recommends that the Department of Health (DoH) and the NHS Executive (NHSE) issue public policy statements on the growth, costing, pricing, auditing of, and accountability for private patient activity in the NHS. The IHA makes specific recommendations to help ensure proper public accountability for NHS Trusts' private patient activities and avoidance of cross-subsidisation. Consequently, this report assembles a variety of Treasury, DoH, NHSE guidance, and independent views confirming that the IHA's assertions are legitimate. Furthermore, much of the material from statutory sources provides evidence that the growth in NHS private patient activity is against recent policy rules and guidance. |
