AnnotationThis pamphlet is one of a series on accessibility of information and communication technology for older people and people with disabilities. It explains the concept of "design for all", which is the process of designing products, services and systems so that they are flexible enough to be directly used, without assistive devices or modifications, and compatible with assistive technology products that might be used by people who cannot use the products directly. Some examples of "design for all" are given, including kerb cuts, speech recognition, and adaptation of computer keyboard features. The benefits of "design for all" for people with disabilities, older people, industry and the public sector are outlined.
