What's to celebrate? | Author(s) | John Burton |
Journal title | Community Care, no 1205, 15-21 January 1998 |
Pages | pp 20-21 |
Keywords | Care homes ; Residents [care homes] ; Finance [care] ; Registration eg homes, nursing homes. |
Annotation | In the second of two articles, the author suggests that radical solutions are needed to tackle the problems caused by the proliferation of cut-price residential homes. Cut-price care is a false economy, which incurs economic and social costs. Truly independent inspection units - accessible to residents, relatives and staff - should have the power to investigate and prevent abuse, enabling the home to perform its main task. |
