Annotation | Home care - providing health care in the home - is the fastest growing area of personal health care in the US. High technology home care (HTHC) - applying life-sustaining technologies at home - represents the fastest growing sector. This article reviews the literature, with a particular focus on "Bringing the hospital home: ethical/social implications of high-tech home care", edited by John D Arras. This book questions the appropriateness of HTHC, and whether users' interests and needs are served. (RH). |
