AnnotationThe concept of a values history has been introduced into the bioethics literature as a new form of medical advance directive. The author proposes the adaptation of the values history in the long-term care setting as a means by which to preserve the narrative identity of frail older people. He considers challenges to both older people's narrative identity and to the moral authority of all advance directives that are inherent in some articles by Rebecca Dresser. (RH).
