Annotation | The provision of cancer care may focus mainly on diagnosis and treatment of the disease itself. However, cancer is often associated with emotional stress, physical disability, social breakdown and financial hardship. Cancer management should therefore include the provision of emotional, psychological, spiritual and practical support for cancer patients and their families. This is the third in a series of reports which set standards of care that should be available to patients. These guidelines are aimed at providers of health care as a standard for which they should aim, and purchasers for the standards of care they should include in their contracts. (RH). |
