Comment: district general hospitals have a future | Author(s) | P W Overstall |

Annotation | The future of district general hospitals in the community care environment is, according to some sources, uncertain. This article argues that community care cannot replace the district general hospital unit until it can offer the same level of specialist expertise in diagnosis and management. The future role for the hospitals is likely to revolve around acute interventions and assessment. |
