Annotation | Telecommunication and other forms of information technology offer new and exciting possibilities for the improvement and survival of rural healthcare in the United States, but they may not be without problems. This article discusses the major forces pushing telecommunications and other information technology (telehealth and the Internet) to the forefront in the delivery of health services; the ways in which they provide better access to care and information; the possibilities these technologies hold for the future; and what this means, most importantly, for the consumer. |
