Annotation | In September 1996, Leicestershire Mental Health Service NHS Trust began a research study in which carer-held records were issued to a group of people caring for patients with dementia. The effects will be measured over a three-year period, and results will be compared with a control group that does not have carer-held records. The article reports on the outcome measurements: carer stress; an assessment of the physical and mental health of carers; the degree of control felt by carers in being able to influence care plans; and patient and carer satisfaction with services. |
