Annotation | Care of older people should be about psychological and social well-being as well as physical needs. The Companions in Care scheme is a collaborative initiative between Age Concern and Chester and Halton Community NHS Trust. The scheme aims to raise the profile of older people in the community. This article about the scheme shows that social isolation is not inevitable in old age. There are ways that caring agencies can combat loneliness in their clients, but the scheme's survival depends on everyone's efforts. |
