Annotation | On behalf of the Health Education Authority (HEA), the Centre for Policy on Ageing (CPA) undertook a comprehensive review of key health issues for older people and the priorities for health promotion activities. The contents of the report are based on material derived from interviews with 'key informants' and a survey of the literature on health promotion for older people. Topics covered include: the scope for disease prevention and health promotion; current policies and initiatives on health promotion for older people in England and internationally; towards a policy framework for promoting the health of older people: emerging issues and strategic themes. In addition, the book includes comments from the viewpoints of a clinician and a director of social services, and also detailed case studies of health promotion strategies in Canada and Australia. |
