AnnotationThis is volume 2 (of 3) of the report of the Director General's inquiry into pensions, which aimed to review the provision of occupational and personal pensions in the UK, in order to identify any practices which adversely affect the economic interests of consumers. It focused on two aspects of pension provision: the market and industry structure, including its statutory and regulatory framework; and consumer behaviour in choosing pensions, and the effect on pension entitlement. This volume contains the results of a consumer survey of a representative sample of 3,800 adults throughout Great Britain, and an analysis of interviews held with academics, consumer groups, government departments, and regulators and representatives of the pensions industry. In addition, the pension systems in Australia, Canada, Chile, Denmark, the Netherlands, the Republic of Ireland, Singapore and the United States, are examined.
