Annotation | Catheterisation is often used in older people, when bladder re-education may be more appropriate. This article reports on a case study of a patient who was incorrectly assumed to have a continence problem, and requested removal of a catheter. Pelvic floor exercises can be useful for those undergoing bladder re-education programmes, since older people may experience a mixture of urge and stress incontinence. The effectiveness of nursing intervention can be measured in terms of the physical and psychological benefits to the patient. |
