AnnotationAre gains in longevity reducing inequalities globally, and are they matched by improvements in quality of life? The pace of ageing is such, that in poor, developing countries, the proportion of the population aged 60 and over will double in a matter of decades. Information on trends in quality of life are required, but there is no measure of healthy life expectancy which allows cross-national comparisons. This article looks at the appropriateness of methods of measurement.
