Keywords | Doctors ; Attitudes to the old of general public. |
Annotation | This article's title is a quote of J K Galbraith, aged 85. It summarises our too commonly negative predisposition towards older people. When doctors think of the old, they tend to linger on the biological aspects of challenges facing the body as it ages. Caring for older people is a complex, multidisciplinary task. The medical profession should consider the environment in which older people live, as well as their physiological and psychological condition. |
