| Annotation | This paper reviews research and policy achievements in the field of domestic elder abuse over the period 1992-1997, in the United States, Australia and European countries. Developments in the definitions of elder abuse, research on the risk factors and consequences of abuse, prevalence and incidence, and development of services, are all examined. The author concludes that although there has been little groundbreaking research in the field, the level of interest and activity throughout the world has grown. The need for further research is stressed, particularly on the effectiveness of interventions on elder abuse. |
