AnnotationThe Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire (PDQ-39) is a disease specific measure of subjective health status. It produces a profile of scores indicating the impact of Parkinson's disease in 8 important areas of health status (mobility; activities of daily living (ADL); emotional well-being; stigma; social support; cognitions; communication; bodily discomfort). In this study, a new summary measure, the Parkinson's disease summary index (PDSI) was created to provide an indication of the overall impact of Parkinson's disease on health status. The PDSI was found to have high levels of reliability and validity, and the study concluded that it will be useful in the evaluation of treatment regimes.
