AnnotationThis study examines whether there is measurement equivalence for younger and older adults on processing speed measures, using a a structural equation modelling approach. Analyses concurrently examined whether speed-related abilities dedifferentiate with increasing age. 144 younger and 105 older adults completed nine measures designed to assess motor speed, alphanumeric speed, and geometric speed. Results indicated that although the number of factors and the factor loadings did not vary across age groups, the interfactor correlations, variance-covariance matrices, and the unique variances differed across age groups.
