AnnotationThis research was designed to study the extent and nature of short-term intra-individual variability and stability manifested by older adults. Examples are anxiety and other temperamental traits, and certain kinds of cognitive abilities. Bi-weekly self-reports of world views and religious beliefs of a sample of elderly participants were examined. Results indicate not only occasion to occasion variability in the self-reports, but the structure of these fluctuations is consistent over time, and bears considerable resemblance to structures reported from cross-sectional data.
