Coronary heart disease — an older woman's major health risk | Author(s) | Nanette K Wenger |
Journal title | British Medical Journal, vol 315, no 7115, 25 October 1997 |
Pages | pp 1085-1090 (BMJ Aging issue) |
Keywords | Heart disease ; Older women ; At risk ; United States of America. |
Annotation | Coronary heart disease is the major cause of death in post-menopausal women in many industrialised countries, and will become epidemic in elderly women as the population ages, unless preventive interventions are undertaken across the life span. Risk factors and results of studies need to be evaluated, so that preventive measures are instituted throughout a woman's lifetime. Although reference is made to mortality in other countries, the article has a predominantly American perspective. |
