Annotation | This report explains how the present system of pension provision can be evolved to secure decent pensions for all. It places current debates on pensions, following the Maxwell affair, within the context of pensions policy as a whole. The strengths and weaknesses of existing forms of provision are described, with proposals on how they should be improved. Even with these improvements, many employees will still have to retire with inadequate pensions. The author advocates the development of a new form of provision, Industry Pensions, to fill this gap. |
