Annotation | Older people have a wealth of experience and knowledge which could be of educational value. This book is part of the Engage Scotland initiative to develop opportunities for volunteering in later life. It sets out to: illustrate some of the advantages of involving older volunteers in schools; provide practical suggestions for setting ideas in motion; offer hints on recruiting and managing volunteers; and consider possible difficulties, such as child protection and safety issues. A section of case studies describes activities involving volunteers in schools around Scotland. Also included are sample documents, statements from the main teaching unions, and information about specific projects and national organisations. |
