Journal title | Working with Older People, vol 1, issue 2, July 1997 |
Pages | pp 16-17 |
Keywords | Social security benefits ; Ill health ; Housing [elderly] ; Social trends ; Statistics [data]. |
Annotation | In 1995/96, two-fifths of all social security expenditure was targeted at older people, according to statistics from the government publication, Social Trends. This article presents statistics on trends in life expectancy, chronic sickness, completions of new specialised dwellings for old, chronically sick and disabled people, and tenure by age of household. The charts and statistics presented demonstrate the need for an effective strategy on health and social care for older people. (RH). |
