AnnotationThe significance of older people's health-related self-help groups for local authority social work practice is examined in this paper. Drawing on the findings from interviews with people involved in a local self-help initiative, an Age Concern England Ageing Well Projects, the paper explores older people's attitudes towards self health care, beliefs about health in older age, difficulties in maintaining health in older age, and constraints to social work involvement in self-help projects.
