Annotation | The CPA (Centre for Policy on Ageing) was commissioned by Help the Aged in 1996 to carry out research to determine how often older people who die alone remain undiscovered in their homes for long periods of time. The research also considered the policy implications for providers of health and social care. This briefing summarises the main findings of the study, 'Deaths of people alone', by Kenneth Howse (CPA report 23) (CPA, 1997). The research was based on coroners' records for nine London Boroughs covered by the Waltham Forest and Southwark coroners. |
