Annotation | This briefing summarises recent work at the CPA (Centre for Policy on Ageing) on the theme of health care. The report, 'Patient satisfaction: the discharge of older people for hospital' by Gillian Dalley and Michael Denniss (CPA, 1997) was published following a survey commissioned by a London Health Authority in 1995. This examined how well patients were kept informed, the arrangements for going home, and satisfaction with community based services. In 1996, the CPA was commissioned by the King's Fund, as part of the King's Fund London Commission Older People's Work Programme, to review current health and social care provision for older people in London. Background and a summary of the main findings is given. In 1997, the CPA was commissioned by the Health Services Accreditation to undertake a project to test whether or not an assessment manual relating to standards of care can be drawn up. |
