AnnotationThis briefing summarises two CPA (Centre for Policy on Ageing) publications, and a forthcoming research commission on the theme of residential care. 'A better home life: a code of practice for residential and nursing home care' was published in 1995. It reflects changes in continuing care since the CPA's 1984 publication, 'Home life: a code of practice for residential care'. The 1997 publication, 'Achieving a better home life', resulted from a CPA conference in 1996, and explores issues surrounding residential and nursing home care for older people. The CPA has been commissioned by Methodist Homes for the Aged to investigate residents' views of, and levels of satisfaction with, living in residential care. This study is due to commence in early 1998. An outline is given of the factors to be examined and the methodology to be used.
