AnnotationThis briefing summarises three research commissions on day services. The first - 'Homeshare in Sutton: a report of an evaluation and study', by Gillian Dalley, Stephen Peretz-Brown, and Hilary Seal (CPA, 1995) - commissioned by Age Concern Sutton with a grant from the King's Fund, looked at the appeal to frail and vulnerable older people of spending the day in the care of volunteers in the volunteers' own homes, as alternative, or in addition, to traditional forms of care. Second, a review of day care services in a Metropolitan Borough in the West Midlands, researched between October 1996 and May 1997, assessed current provision and future options for the pattern of day care services. The third, in a London Borough, looked into the need for day care for older people with functional mental health needs; research was undertaken in Autumn 1996. In each instance, is a summary of main findings and recommendations.
