AnnotationBangladeshis have made their home in Camden since the 1960s, and are now the single largest ethnic group in the borough. This is a summary of the full report of Tarek Qureshi's study (Growing old in Britain: a study of Bangladeshi elders in London; CPA report 22). It focuses on the lives and everyday experience of older Bangladeshis, with regard to employment, language, health, racism, participation, and the position of women. The study explores the special contribution of this group to the neighbourhood. It looks at how far social structure and cultural formations prevent them from participating in, and having access to, the life of the wider community.
