AnnotationSocial gerontology is obliged to have an applied approach in Germany. In Kassel, professional social workers are returning to university to attend a gerontological postgraduate course, in which the applicability of research results is an element in the same way as producing a feedback from practice to science. The exchange between practice and theory is established within the courses. Students also carry out a project in one of three fields: counselling, intervention and rehabilitation; geragogics and further education of other professional groups; or planning and organisation of social services.
