Annotation | More and more older adults are returning to colleges and universities to start studies sanctioned with credits that lead to a diploma. This article outlines the steps needed to determine the content of courses essential to a university programme aimed at developing the self-concept of the older adult and at fostering competency and achievement in work organisation, working in groups, intellectual control, the acquisition of learning strategies, and continuing projects. At the University of Quebec at Montreal, most of the courses in the programme leading to a certificate degree in personalised education for older adults are drawn from the discipline of education; and an equal number of formative and informative courses, and personal and social development courses are offered. |
