Annotation | Older people with developmental disabilities are experiencing longer life expectancy rates than previously. This article reports on an evaluation of coalition building forums around the state of Georgia in the United States, which brought together ageing and disability service providers. After attending these forums, service providers reported increased awareness of the needs of the older population, an appreciation of resources available, and increased networking with other service providers. More lasting coalition building activities, however, were not reported. Although the coalition building forums seemed to increase cooperation between personnel in different service systems, additional efforts are needed to sustain and expand these collaborative ventures. |
