AnnotationThis paper examines six key areas in preventing mental ill health in older Canadians. First, the desire and expectancy for control and self-management among elderly adults, and implications for their health care. Second, assessing service awareness among elderly adults. Third, the predictive and mediating factors in adjustment to retirement. Fourth, older people's perceptions, attitudes and expectancies with regard to counsellors and the counselling processes. Fifth, the psychological and social correlates of depression among older community elders, and identifying the predictive and mediating variables. The final key area is re-examining the psychological well-being of older Canadians. (OFFPRINT).
